Note: Sunbin updated with a long post that I thought was pretty important so I’ve decided to translate it selectively and to paraphrase it. As always, I’m not confident that my translations are accurate. Help and corrections are welcome from those more proficient in the language! I’ve also bolded the important parts for the tl;dr crowd:

Sunbin would like to address several questions and concerns people might be having. Although The Koxx announced that last winter’s performance was supposed to be their final show, the release of news regarding their participation in the upcoming Rainbow Festival might come as a surprise to many.
As we all know, the band was formed in 2009 and their average age was only 20.5 years old back then. Since they were young, they found it hard to keep up with the surrounding changes and were unable to reflect on them. They got on day by day like this. Overtime, disagreements and misunderstandings started piling up. Although they should have tried to empathize with one another (in light of their straining relations) they were constantly met with challenging obstacles. Hence they arrived at the decision to go on a hiatus last fall. It couldn’t have been an easy decision to make but it would have been worthless to continue forcing themselves to work against their desires. As promised, they prepared for their solo concert and the Countdown Festival last year but it was a testing process. No doubt it was fun and meaningful, but because of various factors, a part of them felt somewhat empty on the inside.
Then after that, the members’ enlistment dates came later than expected, contrary to prior announcements. They ended up with more personal time and as months passed, they were gradually able to share their misunderstandings and concerns. With Sooryun’s enlistment happening in about a month, they managed to reconcile and resolve their mix-ups. “Just like how the Saiyans* were able to come alive again, we feel like our fighting spirit had risen by several folds as we return as one complete team”. The members chose the only option that could bring them together, at the thought that they wouldn’t be able to go back and redo this if they don’t fulfill it now. Thus they decided to stage this somewhat sudden performance for the Rainbow Festival, although it might be embarrassing since they went against what they had announced before.
Afterwards, Sooryun will be the first to enlist, with the rest following suit in ones and twos. They will return more mature than before with a better and improved sound. Sunbin hopes that those coming for their show in June will not expect too much nor too little of them and that they can just enjoy the performance.
“We’ll light up the final sparks as The Koxx united. Please cheat on us moderately and receive us warmly when we return!”

i just got into The Koxx's music and i love it!! does anyone else think their music is a bit like Passion Pit, or Sooryun's sounds like Wild Beasts?

Admin: I don’t think they sound like Passion Pit but I’ve only heard their debut record (Manners). As for Wild Beasts, I haven’t checked them out so idk about that. I think The Koxx sounds like a mix of Two Door Cinema Club, Foals, Bombay Bicycle Club and a little bit of Holy Fuck in terms of their synth. That said, they were definitely branching out to a more different sound with their last EP.

Any takers for this question?
